Spur of the moment! That's the way we do it. Nice cottages right on the water. They've been here a while but they are clean and comfortable. Full size fridge, apartment size oven but 4 burners on the stove. There were several dishes as well as pots and pans and silverware. Check out was at noon but we were welcome to stay on the beach later. They even provide charcoal grills and a picnic table for each cottage. The deck and seating was nice as well as a volleyball net on the sand, and a dock for the kids to jump off of. We loved it and will be back.

Well its been about a year and we found ourselves in the area and gave them a call. They were going to be off site when we got there so they left the cabin door open for us and we let ourselves in. I got a call in the morning to see how things were and to tell us we were welcome to come to the office at our convenience and not to rush to leave as they weren't expecting renters. What a great way to treat guests. We will definately stay the next time we find ourselves in Tawas.
Absolutely loved this place! Beautiful beaches, fun and welcoming people. Great for families or small groups. I actually plan on staying here for a longer period of time next year.
Smith's was a perfect escape. I love the 50's style; knotty pine paneling, sparkly bathroom counter, cute little stove. The beach is well maintained. Although it is great for families, staying as a couple didn't feel out of place at all. The staff and the other guests were friendly and kind. I've already recommended to Smith's to a number of people. With any luck, I will stay again next summer. Thank you for a fantastic weekend!
